Access Enhancements

We currently have an Access based application where we are using a master table and also 10 subsets of this table in a datasheet view application. The app displays the data in 2 windows. One window is the subset table the other is the master table. The user has the ability to edit each table thru the window. I want to look at changing the app to work solely off of the master table using queries instead of having 10 subsets in separate physical tables. There is also a lot of VB code contained in the app that could be cleaned up. This will probably be somewhat of an interactive project and not one that can be fully described up front. I would like suggestions from the programmer on the best way to design.
