Custom VB code for Microsoft Access

An entire file drawer in my office sits filled up with old paper forms that I wish to turn into a searchable Access database . . . all of that has already been set up and designed in Access. There is a table of all the raw data and a form view to view and enter the data. The form view is the ONLY part that I want the rest of the office to see in order to prevent them from messing with some of my settings. But I'm getting away from my question. Some of these sheets have additional materials stapled to them that I would like to have in Access as well. What I would love to do is be able to directly link each record to an image file that contains the scanned sheets. The real problem is that no one else in my office has any understanding of Access so I am trying to make this as simple as possible for them. What I would like to do is create a field where a user can enter the file name of the scanned document and then have a button which to open up the specified file - and just the name not the entire path. Since I have no knowledge how to complete this, I turn to you for help and assistance. I'm looking for a VB script, with instructions on how to implement it,that allows the user to merely enter the filename and extension in a field. Then, create a button next to it (still in form view) that is linked to the script (probably linked to a macro which runs the code). Thanks in advance
## Deliverables
First and foremost, I want detailed instructions on how to implement this code. Since I have little knowledge about VB code, I need someone who is willing to work with me closely regarding its implementation. I of course will need a copy of the code that can be delivered in any format PROVIDED that the coder gives detailed instructions on how to incorporate that code into my Access database. Since I also view this as a learning experience I would like detailed instructions on how to use this same code on additional databases - what line of code needs to be changed to reference a different path, what line of code references the field name within Access, and what line of code determines what program is the default for opening this type of file (if at all applicable). Basically, I'm looking for a simple understanding of how the code works and how I can change it for further applications. To sum up, here is everything I'll need: *the VB code itself *instructions on implementing the code *an explanation on how to use the code in future applications *Additional technical support until the code works flawlessly in my application

Windows 95, 98, and XP. The code should either use the default program on the user's machine to view the image (scanned) files or use Internet explorer 5.0 + Access versions can be 97, 2000, or XP (2002)
