bluetooth to gsm upgrade

Hi, I have a circuit that was designed to accept data inputs and then make this data available via bluetooth. (it worked as a serial (RX/TX) pipe. and responded via AT commands). Now the range of bluetooth is limiting and i want to upgrade the system to a method that can be accessed from anywhere. I was thinking GSM. (If you have a better suggestion please let me know).... GSM i feel is the best option because it has a wide coverage, and i could just put a sim card into the circuit and communicate with it from anywhere. The data thats needs to be got from the circuit is usually a file between 1mb and 4mb so you'd have to figure out the best way to deliver the file maybe via gprs and upload it to the internet.
