Custom Flash MX component

I need a custom Flash MX component that can be applied to any movie clip instance and produce a trail when the movie clip moves that fades out over time. I will want parameters to designate the trail color as well as the length and duration of the trail. The component will need to take the image of the movie clip its dropped onto and use that image as a mask for the trail. The trail must also appear behind the movie clip that it is attached to.
