I have an access database with a table that is updated regularly.
I download a new table from a web site and then append it to a table in the database often losing data in the process particularly if the old table has had manual updates done to it.
What I would like to do is compare the tables before the append is done.
Please see the field mappings on the attached excel sheet.
Comparisons to be made between the new table and the old table:
1. Check for new records in the new table that don't exist in the old (ID numbers are unique in both tables) - save in a report table flagged 'new records'
2. Check for records in the old table that have been deleted from the new table. - save in a a report table flagged 'deleted records'
3. For records that exist in both tables check that any fields have not been updated - flag in report table as "
modified record"
I would then like to be able to append all the new records and select which or all of the modified records are to be appended.
Hope someone can help!
Regards
Matthew
