The objective of this project is to provide a service where an individual can receive an automated review of their web site based on several factors. These factors, which are described below, are given a percentage score and then the weighted average (Some factors are more important than others) is worked out to give an overall percentage score. The system will work by utilising third party systems. These factors, which are described below, are given a percentage score and then the weighted average (Some factors are more important than others) is worked out to give an overall percentage score. The system will work by utilising third party systems. For example, to rate the quality of a web page’s code, the system refers to the W3C’s validation service at [[login to view URL]][2]. These factors are as follows: **Promotion** This refers to how many back links a particular web page has. To achieve this, the system uses the [login to view URL] linkdomain:url command to check the number of links pointing to a web site. The web site in question will be parsed and three main keywords identified from the text. These keywords will then be searched for in Google in order to see how the site performs in the search engine rankings. The keywords are identified, first, by looking at the Title tag to discover the name of the site. From there, the two most used words or phrases in the body text that are not ‘stop words’ such as ‘the’ or ‘and’ will be selected. Depending on how well ‘promoted’ the web site appears to be, the site is assigned the relevant percentage score. The web site’s Alexa ranking is also taken into consideration. The higher the ranking, if any, the better score awarded. **Site Design** This section refers to how well built the web site is. To work out the score, the system utilises the web page validator at [[login to view URL]][2]. The more errors that appear, the lower the percentage score. Also, sites making use of style sheets are also rewarded for using the latest technologies. Should a mostly tables based layout be picked up, the site will be awarded a lower score. Where errors are apparent, the user should be able to view the issues picked up by the W3C validator without leaving our site. **Accessibility** As this system is primarily for users in Great Britain, it is important that it refers to the relevant accessibility guidelines for Britain. In this case, we shall use the system at [[login to view URL]][3]. Again, the user should be able to view the errors should they wish. **User Experience** This is basic test for user experience. The following are factors that will affect the score for ‘user experience’: · Load Time · File Size of pages · The amount of text on a page (Content rich pages score higher) · Features ??" which features are evident such as news, search function etc. There will be around 20 different features for the system to attempt to identify. · Whether or not the page makes use of forms **User Opinion** This is a rating system where users can vote to show how highly they rate the design of a particular web site. If a web site has been voted for at least five times, the average rating will take effect. Finally, we would require an attractive, accessible and CSS based design for the system. The design would be considered complete at our discretion. ---------------------------------------------------- 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform This system must be written in PHP or Perl.
