Browser-based Antivirus Status Check Component

A browser-based module that can be invoked from a PHP script, and will check the client machine for the following anti-virus status:

· Anti-virus software Installation Status (installed / not installed), and name (AV name and version)

· Date of last update of virus definition files

· Date when last AV update was run

· Date of last file scan

## Deliverables

A browser-based module that can be invoked from a PHP script, and will check the client machine for the following anti-virus status:

· Anti-virus software Installation Status (installed / not installed), and name (AV name and version)

· Date of last update of virus definition files

· Date when last AV update was run

· Date of last file scan

The module should then return this information to a PHP script in a secure fashion (HTTPS). The information can be returned in HTTP POST or XML or JSON format.

· Server Environment

o OS: Windows Vista / XP / Server 2003

o Web Server: IIS / Apache

· Client Environment

o OS: Windows XP / Vista

o Browser: IE 6+, Firefox 2.5+

Note that this module must be cross-browser (IE + FF), and must be able to work with all the most popular antivirus software. It must not require Administrator privileges for the user, to work.

PLEASE INCLUDE FEATURE-WISE TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY / LIMITATIONS AS PART OF YOUR RESPONSE:

1. Can all four information elements be captured ?

2. Can the module support atleast the a/v packages mentioned below ?

3. Can it work without administrator privileges ?

4. Will it support invocation from and information return to the PHP script ?

5. Will the module be cross-browser ?

6. Will any additional server-side components or client-side components be consumed as a part of this module ?
