Pattern recognition with Matlab

This is an educational project. I have 2 kinds of shapes that should be recognised in a sheet. What I request for this is a Matlab code (with description of the code lines) which recognises the shape. I have put the names of the shapes that should be recognised in red. Please note that these are manually sketched drawings. These shapes may have different scales.
