Hello We can use a mathematical model which imitates customers' flow and estimates average over time and peak number of items in use. Using the model we will be able to predict "Service Level" (percentage of fulfilled orders) for different stock sizes and determine desired (most profitable) set up. Desired service level cannot be 100%, since it is always some tiny probability of a crowd running in your store and drain any reserve and additional items always bring these probability down. The question is what is the optimal solution for your business. Top wholesale companies target at about 95%. The right value for you can be determined from the modelling and several test runs.
