Auto resize image popup

I need a script that will popup an image in a new window, that is NOT on an html page. I need this new window to auto size to fit neatly around the image. The image should popup over the "click this link to enlarge image" text. I need this new popup image to be closed by clicking anywhere on the image. I need it to work on all browsers. I dont want the image popup to be loaded on an html page, unless this can be done on the fly. I have too many images to go back and make html pages for all of them.
