custom sharepoint webpart to pass a value via "connections" to another webpart on the same page

I could have this completed for you in a couple days at most. I do have a couple questions though. Would you want this as an app (client webpart) or a full trust solution? Also, you stated that it will need to parse the saml token to determine the users role, are there saml tokens issued for roles or would the roles need to be determined via the user saml token? I am new to freelancer but I have been working in SharePoint for a long time and spent the past couple years as the SharePoint engineering team lead.
