This assignment addresses the problem of exchanging data between distributed, potentially heterogeneous, computer systems. Such mechanisms are implemented as an integral part of middleware packages to enable the integrity and interpretation of data to be guaranteed as it is exchanged between distributed components. You are to design and implement a protocol for exchanging data between, potentially heterogeneous computer systems in a distributed environment. You are to produce a single Java class implementation of your protocol. This class will provide an interface (described below) for the marshalling and unmarshalling of data for transmission across a network. A file containing dummy functions is provided; you are to modify this file. A test program will be provided to test the operation of your implementation. A version of the test program will be used to test your submission. It is therefore important that your class provides all of the methods described even if they have no functionality.
