I am currently in hardware development of a linux core that would only have one purpose... to access a web based operating system. Budget pending... my dream system would be similar to desktoptwo.com. I am looking for a web based OS where users can store and manage photos, address book, documents, email, etc... My system will be special because we have thin clients designed to access the system giving people with little or no income a change to explore the internet. I want to have several different styles of account setups. Standard Account- your every day users... we have two account types, free and paid. Free accounts will have an advertisement bar and a few less features and storage space than a paid user. Family Account- A combination of "Adult" and "Child" accounts where the parent can setup access restrictions and parental controls for the child. Corporate Account- A combination of "Manager" and "Employee" accounts. Employees can be set into different workgroups which include the ability to share contacts, messages (like an internal chat), calendars, etc... either inside the workgroup or the company. Managers should be able to setup internet or restrictions similar to the family accounts. Paid accounts including the Family and Corporate setups can customize their startup desktop and installed software would be controlled by the Adult/Manager. We will push the ability to develop custom or new applications for the business to help streamline or replace their current system. I will be using a compatible [login to view URL] merchant processor to handle the credit cards and/or invoicing for businesses. A printing setup and the ability to upload images from the USB drive are important too. Future programs would include a shipping assistant for printing shipping labels and management shipments and an accounting program like Quickbooks. I want people to have the ability to browse the application list and select programs that would like to use... somewhat like an installer. I also want a site/system for users to develop their own software and add it to our system... similar to eyeos.com. Other WebOS include [login to view URL] or youos.com... I require a one year debugging warranty and an SDK for users to develop software for our system. I will also need a basic shopping cart system that can support 5-10 items like thumb drives and accessories. Users will be connecting to their "desktop" via SSL too.
