Responsive Mobile Website Migration Project
PHASE 1 Responsive Mobile Website migration
Move a very small responsive mobile .mobi website from [url removed, login to view] to a private cloud server running Ubuntu 14.04 / PHP 5.5.9 / Apache 2.4 The .mobi domain is already hosted on the server that the mobile site is to be moved to. Currently a PHP redirect is being used to send visitors to the mobile website hosted at [url removed, login to view]
Responsive Mobile Website can be seen at:
[url removed, login to view]
Retain Responsive Mobile Website mobile device compatibilities provided by dudamobile hosting when site is setup on private server. Dot mobi (.mobi) domain registry requires sites using .mobi TLD to be mobile capable sites not conventional desktop computer browser sites.
PHASE 2 DOCUMENTATION
Need documented in a plain text or [url removed, login to view] file all steps taken to complete Phase 1 of this project. Documentation will be reviewed after submission for completeness.
1 For code mods or configuration file changes document changes in "was" / "changed to" / "purpose of change" format.
2 List of all package removals and installations with complete command line code used for each.
NOTE Documentation needed for server owner to clone this project when the server needs to be reinstalled.
Background: Responsive Mobile Website
My current Duda website is a responsive mobile website on Duda Mibile Plan called "Business+".
A responsive mobile website is a solution to a problem created by the popularity of smart phones. Standard websites are just not usable on phones, a mobile website is easy to use on phones and other mobile devices.
A mobile website is a smaller, rearranged version of a desktop website, designed to fit logically within the screen of a smart phone. The whole site is no wider than 320 pixels, the standard width of a smart phone, and only scrolls vertically. Instead of standard text links, buttons are used to give a more finger-friendly experience.
Mobile websites place a strong emphasis on calls to action like Click-to-Call buttons, where visitors can tap a button to place a phone call to your business. Mobile Maps take advantage of the GPS in your visitor's phone to help them find the location nearest to them.
