Design Logo For Travel Website

I need a logo for a travel blog/website I'm working on. It may also be used on business cards, letterheads, etc. further down the track. I will provide the name of the website to the winning bidder. It will feature travel-style articles from all over the world (and potentially videos further down the track). However, the 'angle' is that travel isn't just about ticking places off a list or saying you've been somewhere. It's about the people you meet, cultures you learn about, experiences you have and everything that it teaches you (your place in the world, how to be a better person, etc.). The target audience is wide but I guess it would predominantly be 18-35 year old travellers. As this website will be not for profit (at this stage), my budget is very low. However, I'm willing to wait a couple of months for project completion. I have not decided on a colour scheme or typography for the site, as I will base this decision around the logo. I've read that I should give you examples of the types of logos that appeal to me. To me that sounds like I would be telling you how to suck eggs. You're the designer. I want to see what you can do.
