Add a ''count'' function to an existing 3D USB pedometer

We would like to customize an existing 3D USB pedometer (normally with ADXL345 as accelerator in it. the pedometer will be ordered by us). We don't want to change the looking of this pedometer, and just want to add below functions to it. 1. add 4 variables to the "mode" button: the end user can define the name for these 4 variables in the computer, so that when the user can find the defined name of these 4 variables on pedometer, meaning the "user defined" variable names can be automatically transferred to and displayed on pedometer LCD as long as this USB pedometer is plugged into computer. 2. when the "mode" of any of these 4 variables is on, the pedometer can do simply counting job, that is counting 1, 2, 3... whenever the end user presses any button on the pedometer for once, twice or three times.....and at the same time, record the time of course. 3. the data can be transmitted (ex: the counts for each variable per day) to a website we are developing.
