But without grammar, understanding even the most common English words just isn't easy. Do you love to sit down and read a good book? Or perhaps relaxing in front of a movie is your cup of tea? I would have never thought in a million years that I would be thankful for learning grammar during my school years. I hated the English classes. I had to learn the different components of language such as what is a verb, what is a noun and so on. Somehow I learned everything that I was required to learn. How did this happen? I have no idea, but boy has it come in handy. Many years in the future I would rely on my knowledge when I would become a writer. Imagine if everyone hated grammar as much as I did. Imagine if it was never taught in school. How would we communicate with each other? A sentence as simple as, “Would you like a drink?” might be misunderstood. Perhaps the person that is being offered the drink might think they were being forced to accept the beverage. It is grammar that allows us to comprehend what another person is trying to tell us and it opens our minds to information, knowledge and allows us to comprehend.
