I have been in close touch with media and art related industry since young. I was hosting school TV programs in primary and middle school. I received a lot of awards in drawing, recitation and writing. When I was 18, I left China and studied abroad in Singapore. With full scholarship from Singapore government, I studied Engineering and Media at Nanyang Technological University. I started to write films reviews, which were published on newspapers and worked as a volunteer for Singapore Film Society and Asia Film Archive. I interned at the travel channel of Shandong TV and Radio Station for a summer holiday. That gave me the opportunity to know more about how to make a TV programme. I hosted a Chinese podcast programme for one year and got more than 10,000 clicks in total. After graduation from NTU, I applied for NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia to pursue my dream of being a film director.
I like teamwork and a fast-paced working environment. At film school, with limited manpower and budget, all classmates helped each other all the time serving as different roles on set to get each project done. During three years of film study, I worked on more than 15 productions across Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Nepal, as Director, Writer, Producer, Unit Production Manager, Sound Recordist, Boom Operator, Art Director, and so on.
I think no one will understand “teamwork” and “pressure” better than an independent filmmaker. The responsibilities that come with
