I am looking for someone to write a blog article about a hiking backpack for kids. I would prefer someone interested in outdoor activities with possibly some experience hiking and/or backpacking. I would like a bit of commentary and creative writing about the subject and not a rehash of product features and specs (though that will be needed as well). The backpack is the Osprey ACE 50 found here: [login to view URL] The article should be somewhat comprehensive and about 1000+ words. I would encourage getting out to an REI or other outdoor store to look at the pack a bit and get a feel for it. I would be willing to pay extra for decent quality photos to go along with the article and also if the article is of high quality and greater than 2000 words. The tone can be fun and conversational, but professional. No SEO required for this. Just write and be creative. The article is for a website that promotes getting kids and families outdoors. We are looking for beginner, intermediate and experienced writers that have an interest in getting outdoors hiking, biking, skiing, climbing, snowshoeing, etc. (Outdoor activities excluding hunting and fishing) If you are fun, creative, easy to work with and enjoy the outdoors, this gig may be for you and may lead to further assignments. Hello! I grew up in Boy Scouts, and still love to get away to a trail. Fortunately, I live ~20 minutes from an REI. I can call the location to see if they have this model on-hand. It'd be a good excuse to take my step daughter with me. I can bounce some ideas off of her toward getting the voice right for youth girls. I'd like to discuss more about the voice of the article. For example, is it a fiction piece following a kid and his/her backpack's adventure? Is it in the voice of a youth on a hike with his/her friends that just happens to name drop this model? I could arrange stock photographs of the pack. Depending on the voice of the piece, I may be able to stretch it to whatever word count that you want. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you. This sounds like a fun assignment. UPDATE: I just realized that my profile picture is of me during the White Sands Missile Range Bataan Memorial Death March where it was 26.2+ rough miles of loose sand desert and mountain terrain in New Mexico at the onset of summer. Brutal is the word.
