I have a set of sub-projects. Total about 12 scripts. We will take one at a time.
The project is to create chef scripts for the deployment of my software using Chef 12 on Amazon Opsworks platform in Custom Layers on the Stack.
These scripts are not to be 'published'...they are my scripts. You will get a branch off my bitbucket git repository project or a fork repository to do the writing, and you will get an Instance on Amazon Opwsworks with the Opsworks Chef-Client and AWS chef_gem installed. You will most likely be running with "sudo chef-client --local" for all of your work. This project does not require spec/test scripts unless you want to write them.
I will provide you a set of scripts that I have already. Some used, some not. These are really, really, bad and a lot of bash 'process' do code <<-EOT doit EOT end scripts. and a lot of scripts that I have downloaded from chef script repositories and you must make the attribute configuration changes for my environment...or use a completely different script.
We are doing this on Ubuntu [url removed, login to view] servers. You must plan on Ubuntu 16LTS in your script writing. I will be spinning up these services once amazon officially supports them.
The first one you will start with is postfix. I have downloaded this script, but it must be configured for my purpose. Then we will move to the next script. Then the next.
You will be required to specify 'best practices' when it comes to usernames/passwords and API keys and provide JSON to be passed to the scripts at runtime.
I will not provide a full list of requirements until we begin. Please specify your CV and rates as T&M.
I will take students and interns that wish to invest in some time and do some 'real-world' chef development.
