Hi There I understand that scalability is your first priority but scale comes at some price & complexities which is how you handle failover from within your app and in context of AWS as well. Which is the most important thing to care about when deploying an App to AWS; is that All AWS resources are ephemeral i.e. they can disappear at any time without any prior notice. So the app needs to be configured in a failover manner. Besides I'm an AWS expert and currently ranked no 1 in freelancer for AWS category. Dear Sir/Madam, I am Shyam Visamsetty, senior web developer and also very well experienced with AWS from Hyderabad, India. For you too achieve a scalable web app, You will need to set up an AWS Elastic Load Balancer (ELB) and attach EC2 instances to it. In addition, I would suggest you to separate the app server and DB server to different servers. The database can use AWS RDS, since it has great backup and snapshot capabilities and is also scalable. Its hard to place a bid without seeing the site and knowing how much work is involved , but I can both software and hardware optimize your hosting environment. If you have several websites and visitors you will want to optimize your disk by using ssd. Increased memory and at least 2 vcpu's. I would also take a look at your web server and make sure you are using nginx(Apache works fine but will need a good configuration).
