this assignment is on the epic poem on "Beowulf" 4 pages, MLA style. tasks: - select a monster in Beowulf. Focus on no more than one monster in a single scene from Beowulf for analysis (lines can be quoted from other scenes to reiterate/back up a point) -Does the diction (word choice) of the scene force us to see the monster in a certain way? Does this view support or perhaps undercut the monster’s action depicted here or elsewhere in the poem? How does this passage function in the narrative, in relation to other characters, etc.? -Construct an argument about the monster, and about why this scene is crucial to understanding him/[login to view URL] to get us to understand your monster in a way that isn’t easily intuited. In other words, your reading of the monster shouldn’t be entirely self-evident or obviously ‘true.’ -Look for patterns of repetition and anomalies (things that break such patterns) in Beowulf.
