Article Critique

These are the requirements for the paper based on the journal article

1. Source: Find a peer reviewed journal article in statistics in psychology from the last 10 years. Please also make sure the article uses relevant validity. Make sure the article has the necessary information below to write about. If you are unable to find one, please contact me and I will provide one. Please make sure that the article is from the United States.

2. Describe theory: Theory is described with a sense of why A --> B and what A & B are.

3. Describe measurement: Outline the independent variable, outline the dependent variable(s), outline the IV, outline the covariate(s), if ANCOVA or MRC with comment about match with theory.

4. Describe method: Outline method to provide sense of whether experiment, quasi-experiment or observational, with comment about implications for causality.

5. Identify at least three tests: Each test correctly identified, with a reference to significance. Explain each test in terms of whether we can assume the results were/were not due to chance. For each test, explain results correctly interpreted (e.g. as X goes up, Y goes up. Group A not = Group B)

6. Describe at least three Effect Sizes: Results described with a focus on the effect size (e.g. Cohen's d, correlation, R2) And effect size characterized as small, medium, large.

7. Methodological Alternative Interpretation (confounds as well): Identify and describe how a possible methodological alternative explanation could give you the same results, and how it was (or was not) addressed (e.g. Regression to the Mean is a possible confound because poor performers were selected and improvement could just be a change in luck).

8. Writing Style/Grammar: Writing must be engaging, insightful, and focused. It has clarity, depth, coherence, and completeness. Tone is formal when appropriate and the language. Writing skills are strong. Must show effective command of language. Sentence structures are accurate with good sentence variations. Capitalization, punctuation, and indentation are followed and there are no misspellings (less than one error per page).

9. APA Format: Correct use of APA format, inclusive of citations, references, and correct levels of headings. Writing is objective and displays a good understanding of the APA style.
