This assignment requires your active and ongoing participation that simulates the progress of a community development project. Define and investigate a simulated community and community need, determine appropriate community involvement representation, provide a formal organizational structure to the workgroup, determine the community resources required to implement the project, and develop a strategic plan that defines levels of support, fosters community empowerment, and builds upon community capacity.

A. Details of Community Development Project (CDP)
Describe the community as fully as possible, the community needs that will be worked on, and the methodology used by your CDP to identify and determine the needs. What name have you given to the CDP to easily identify it amongst the constituent members and the community? Who are the CDP’s members? (identify them by affiliation and role, and provide a rationale for their inclusion). Identify any affiliations not participating in the CDP that should be invited (provide a rationale for their inclusion). Identify any affiliations that will be used as supplemental resources or consultants to the CDP, but will not necessarily be an ongoing member of the CDP working group (provide a rationale for their use). Define the Terms of Reference for the CDP? Define the CDP’s mandate and objectives. How will decisions and conflicts be resolved? (Estimated length of this section is 3 pages)
B. Identifying the community’s resources and capacity for change
Identify the existing assets and resources (human and material) in the community, and identify resources that are not currently available, but will be required. Identify how the community resources will be used or obtained to be successful in the implementation and maintenance of the project. Identify the key community catalysts. (Estimated length of this section is 2 pages)
C. Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating
Identify your CDP’s Strategic Plan; including its mission statement, goals, methods for achieving the goals, activities and time frames required for implementation, accountability mechanisms, resource requirements, community partnerships and collaborations planned, an evaluation plan (evaluation tools to use, time frame, uses of information gathered), and a process for sustaining the CDP over time including funding and budgeting.. (Estimated length of this section is 4 pages)
D. Analysis of the CDP and group experience
In their simulated role, provide a one paragraph analysis of the value of the CDP as individuals, and the value to the affiliation they represent. For example, a community representative would speak to the pros and cons of her CDP involvement to her individual growth, and also to her community. A nurse representing a local hospital would address the pros and cons of her involvement in the project in terms of her professional development as a nurse, and also to her workplace.
