Resumen del concurso

Overview
Are you a Unity3D environment designer? We have an application that lets people walk through a variety of exciting 3D environments. We need new artists to design and build Exciting LOW-POLY 3D worlds for our mobile app. The $100 prize will be awarded to the artist who submits the BEST IDEA for a LOW-POLY 3D world. Your contest entry must meet all of our contest entry requirements.
The prize is just for your map and screen shots of the first-person view from a couple of points on a trail. It is not required that you build the entire world, but we need to see at least a small portion. DO NOT send us any project files. We only require a few screen captures (jpg or png) that show your artist placement of low-poly elements in your world.
Regardless of whether you win the prize, we may offer to buy your services to fully build your world. So, don’t enter this contest unless you are a Unity3D environmental developer ready to build your world.

Requirements
Our app will eventually have a very large number of environments so we are looking for a wide variety of worlds. They can be realistic worlds, fantasy worlds or cartoon worlds but, they must be LOW-POLY. The main requirement is that the world be FUN and PLEASANT to walk thru (no scary dark creatures or weapons). Here are some other requirements:
• The world you design should be 1k x 1k and either created in Unity or easily imported into Unity.
• It should have miles of trails that are between 1-2 meters wide. The trails can be sand, wooden, steel, bridges. logs or anything else appropriate for the theme.
• It should have interesting features to look at (ie. Plants, trees, rocks, mountains, rivers, beaches etc.)
• It should have at least one or two animated features like moving water, wind, waterfalls, surf etc.
• It should be a closed world in that you don’t run up to the edge and are stopped. Be creative with mountain ranges, water, walls or whatever that surrounds and encloses the environment.

Submission
Your submission must include the following: You can add videos or more information if you want. If your world should have some low-poly animals, list what they would be (you do not need to create them). NOTE: there is a sample contest entry link below.
1. An attention getting title. 1 -3 words that describe your world in an exciting way.
2. Detailed description of the world you are submitting. Tell me what it is that makes this world a very fun place to hike around in. 2-4 sentences is adequate.
3. A screen capture from the sky above your terrain. Add arrows and labels indicating where the following items are located:
• Trails
• Interesting landmarks
• Animated features
4. A few screen captures of the view from selected points on a trail.
5. An estimate of the time it will take you to build the entire terrain and populate it with the features you mentioned.
6. The total cost of developing the world.

Optional Extras
If you want, you can add a video of walking down part of the trail. It can be as short or as long as you want. If you imagine your world with some low-poly animals, list what they would be. You do not need to create the animals or add any of them to your terrain but, if you want to, that is okay.

This contest is for your LOW-POLY world ideas.

Some possible ideas are National Parks, Canyons, Swamps, Mountains and Fantasy Worlds from your imagination. Our followers have also expressed interest in a Harry Potter type world and an Avatar type world with floating islands. Movies and books are great inspiration for creative ideas. We are looking forward to seeing your exciting ideas. Good Luck!

We have awarded the prize to "The Green Canyonlands" by Francesca T. Our decision was based on the map, and the unique design with interesting and varied landmarks that we could see in the screenshots from along the path. We will very likely be commissioning this world in the near future. We were very surprised by the number of very unusual and fun entries we received. We may very well be contacting you in the future to commission your worlds. Our Illusion Trails app requires a catalog of interesting worlds. Thanks again to everyone. We will be in touch.

The contest entry period has ended. We can't accept any more entries. We really do thank you for all of your fantastic ideas. We will be awarding the prize to the artist that has both; 1) Presented a really fun world to hike through and, 2) Demonstrated the skills to build that world. In the next 4 days we will present the award. We may make the winner an offer to commission them to finish their world and deliver it to us or we may make others offers, even though they didn't win or we may decided not to build immediately and store you and your project for later when the budget allows. Thanks again to everyone!

Only 2 days left to get your entry submitted. There are some really great entries and a lot of worlds I would love to explore on foot. We will be awarding the prize to our groups favorite. We hope to have the winning entry built and maybe a few more over the next year.

Hi, Edgardo and Nikhil. I'm looking forward to seeing your interesting low-poly 3D worlds. We are getting some great ideas that all fit into 1000m by 1000m world. Don't be afraid to go inside buildings, like Hogwarts, or make unconventional trails, like the giant tree limbs in Avatar.

Hi Ahmed. I don't care what tools you use as long as your entire world can be imported into Unity3D and everything is low-poly for mobile devices. I'm looking forward to seeing your world.

Please make sure that your entire world is low-poly. That includes the terrain. We are refining our app to make sure that movement is smooth and low-poly is necessary.

Keep in mind that you are NOT creating an efficient world where everything is conveniently located and walking is minimaxed. You actually want the opposite. Our hikers use our app so they can get lots of real exercise and build up a LOT of steps. However, they do not want boring walks. They want to be entertained with interesting views and things to see along the way and the want their hard work to be rewarded with an interesting landmark.

Hi Daniel. I hope you can submit an entry. Your portfolio has some excellent photo-realistic 3D work. But remember, we need a Low-Poly world with interesting trails and landmarks.

I've received one really good entry so, I've gone ahead and guaranteed the contest. Please remember there is more than the contest prize at stake. My app is a little different from most games in that it requires a LOT of totally different worlds. If we receive more than one good entry we might negotiate the creation of 2 or more worlds.

Check out entry #2 for an example of a proper response to the contest. She has a map, a title, a description and a couple close-up shops of areas she has created. Thats all I'm looking for. 1) Show me that you have a great original idea for a virtual world that would be fun to walk through and 2) Show that you have the 3D skills to complete the project.

Thank you for the link. You have some interesting 2D animations and some basic 3D construction. We are looking for the ability to think of an interesting 3D area and a demonstration of your ability to create it.

Thank you to the artists who have told me they are working on submissions. I look forward to hearing about your idea and checking out at least a tiny portion of your 3D world. Remember, we would like to see a basic map of your 1Kx1K world with arrows pointing out the interesting points.

Have a look at my portfolio and if you are interested, I can create all the models for you for a fixed price. For doing anything in untiy coding is required including the render settings. I am a designer not a coder, so I am not interested in working inside unity.

Hi Sunny, Thank you for your comments. I think you might be thinking about gaming aspects requiring coding. A simple terrain with asserts placed doesn't actually require coding. Sometimes assets with animation require some simple coding. I don't require any models because I will leave that up to the designers and their theme.

At least guarantee the price because the whole theme needs to be designed which will take time.

100usd you wont see lots of ideas, not even #guaranteed i suggest , 1 simple small terrain, with 1 house, maybe some barricade, few sample vegetation around probably1 to 3 tree, some decals, 1 dog or goat, 1 human character , and 1 chicken on top of house, this is somehow will elaborate an actual concept and idea that you are wanting, and probably i will have this illustrated concept arts before 3d, so i suggest a concept art contest first, pardon me write this msg, i guess 100 usd for the concept mention above in total this would be ranging 2000 to 1000 usd freelancer prize actual cost overall, what do you say?
